Missouri is another step closer to launching sports betting in the state.
The Missouri Gaming Commission is now conducting background checks on sports betting companies who have applied for a license to operate in the state.
The application window closed earlier this year. This round of applications is for so-called 'untethered' licenses.
An untethered lincense, also reffered to as a direct mobile license, allows a company to offer online sports betting without being tied to a physical casino.
Applicants of the Licenses include FanDuel, DraftKings and Circa Sports, all of which are online gambling platforms based outside of Missouri, and hoping to operate here.
Recipients of licenses will be announced on August 15th.
Voters approved the sports wagering measure in November of 2024.
