The City of Maryville is updating the event center at Mozingo Lake Recreation Area with a new AV (Audio-Visual) media system. While the existing system is not necesarily old, says Mozingo Director Jordan Greenhaw, it is not quite compatible with the space.
Greenshaw says, "Since the construction of the event center the original A/V equipment that was installed - we've learned that we need a much more complex system than what we have."
An initial advertising process found a number of companies to do the work, but they all had estimates around 70 thousand dollars. Mozingo was able to adjust designs and staff found another contracter who put the estimate at 50 thousand dollars.
Greenhaw says it will allow the Park to attract bigger conference groups and produce better events. It will be a big improvement, she said.
"We'll be able to use the microphones without feedback, and hopefully have a much more manageable system so hopefully that will be good for everyone involved.", said Greenshaw.
Councilmembers approved funds for the project last week at a council meeting.
