A project is moving forward to renovate the Phil Welch Stadium in St Joseph following this week's City Council Meeting.
Home to the Mustangs, the stadium is owned by the city and managed by its Parks and Rec Department.
The Council approved almost 700 thousand dollars in funds towards structural improvements to address weaknesses in the steel holding up the grandstand. The money comes from the Park Fund, which is drawn from a city Sales Tax.
Also at it's Monday meeting, the council approved 30 thousand dollars in funding to support the work of the Allied Arts Ciuncil in the city.
It also signed a contract with a security firm to monitor a downtown bus station, which has been a sight of frequent vandalism and other disruptive, threatening behavior.
