Residents from the medical school at the University of Missouri in Kansas City are being recruited by the Mosaic Medical Center Maryville to complete a work-study in rural healthcare. It gives the UMKC residents a chance to work in rural health care and develop skills specific to small hospitals.

The first year of the residency program they spend at Lakewood Medical Center on the UMKC campus, followed by two years here in Maryville.

The program accepts two residents per year. This year's Maryville residents are Dr. Marawa Aljardali, a specialist in women's health and Dr. Henry Solanke, who focuses on family medicine. They will relocate to Maryville in 2026.
