Update on Missouri's economic state

Employers in the state of Missouri continue to add jobs, according to the latest numbers.

Nonfarm employment in the state rose by nearly 8,000 workers in June of 2025. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4 percent, which indicates even as employers add jobs, more Missourians are entering or re-entering the workforce.

700 of the new jobs in June were in government. The rest are in private industry.

Over the course of the year, from June of 2024 to 25, there was an increase of about 25 thousand jobs in the state.

While employment increases were strong in June compared to April and May, hiring is somewhat slower than at the outset of the year.
