Northwest Missouri State assistant softball coach Hunter Lambdin will get his first shot as a head coach next spring.

Dakota State University athletics director Bud Postma tabbed Lambdin as their new skipper Monday.

A graduate of Northwest, Lambdin began his coaching career as a student assistant under longtime Bearcat baseball coach Darin Loe. He's a two-time coach of the year honoree in the Carolina Shores Summer Collegiate League where he won the 2019 title with the Little River Blue Crabs.

Lambdin spent three seasons as an assistant softball coach at Northwest under Naomi Tellez.

He inherits a Dakota State program that went 7-37 in NAIA play last spring.
