Feb. 5, 2025MARYVILLE, Mo.
National Signing Day brought about a full circle moment for local product Gus McCollough.
Maryville High School's all-state linebacker put pen to paper to officially join the college football program he grew up watching.
McCollough is the latest in a long line of successful Spoofhounds that made the leap to play for Northwest Missouri State.
In high school, McCollough's position coach was former Northwest All-American Jacob Vollstedt. Now he shifts to a unit led by another former Bearcat linebacker - defensive coordinator Chad Bostwick.
"I was kind of looking around at other colleges, and then Bostwick reached out to me," McCollough said.
McCollough goes to Northwest as a two-time MFCA All-State performer. He also set the Maryville High School single-season tackles record with 129 last fall, and finished with a program-best 244 tackles.
Now he's focused on getting ready for the next challenge.
"The coaches have been great walking me through everything, and of course, excited to be a Bearcat. Growing up in Maryville, it's all you can ask for."
