As the fall sports season for high schools across Missouri began Monday, the Maryville High School football team hit the turf on a rainy day at the 'Hound Pound with its sights set on another deep playoff run.

"Every year we talk about tradition never graduates, and when you have great tradition you get to have new guys step up and have their role," Maryville head coach Matt Webb said. "It's all about what's being built in the off-season."

The Spoofhounds posted a 9-5 campaign in 2024 and reeled off five consecutive victories late in the season to reach the the Class 3 semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Blair Oaks.

Despite graduating starters from both sides of the ball, Maryville still returns a wealth of talent and leadership. Webb said there are still some position battles going into fall camp, but he believes the Spoofhounds will be ready to compete at a high level when the season begins.

"We've got some really good skill players back, we've got a few spots on the O-line to solidify and look at our depth on both the offensive and defensive lines," Webb said. "We lost some good players, but I'm really excited about this group."

The Maryville season begins August 29 at home against Blair Oaks.
