Northwest Missouri State officially named a new head athletic trainer Monday morning.

Chapin Wehde was elevated to the role after spending the previous year as Northwest's associate athletic trainer, serving as the insurance coordinator and athletic trainer for Bearcat track and field.

Wehde replaces Christy Tapps as head athletic trainer. Tapps stepped away from athletics to become Northwest's new Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellbeing.

Wehde is a 2011 graduate of Aurora University, and earned her Master of Rehabilitative Sciences from California University of Pennsylvania in 2014. She brings over a decade of experience in sports medicine to the post, with positions at the Illinois Institute of Technology, University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, and Southwestern University.
