On June's edition of ALL THINGS NORTHWEST, Dr. Jasinski talks with Lori Ross and Santos Saak of Foster-Adopt-Connect about Fostering Youth Transition.
A new study confirms that over 59% of foster youth in Missouri age out at 16 years of age or older entering the adult world without families and with limited life skills experiences, making for disproportionate levels of unemployment and homeless. Foster-Adopt-Connect in Chillicothe has developed a program to help these young adults navigate these issues.
Lori Ross is the founder, CEO and President of FosterAdopt Connect. Lori and her husband Randy have been foster/adoptive parents since 1985. Together they have cared for more than 400 foster children and adopted 23 ranging in age from 5 to 34. They also had five biological children along the way!
Santos Saak is a foster kid that went through the system and talks of his experiences and how Fostering Youth Transition is so important.
The mission of Foster-Adopt-Connect is to provide foster and adoptive children a stable, loving and nurturing family environment by support and advocacy for abused and neglected children and the families caring for them.
