Northwest Missouri State football survived a scare from Central Missouri on the way to a 24-20 victory at Arrowhead Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Zach Martin hit wide receiver Jordan Bishop in the end zone for the go-ahead score with just seven seconds remaining to cap the Bearcats' (5-0) come-from-behind win.
The Mules took their first lead in the game on a four-yard touchdown pass from Brook Bolles to Kyrion Parker with 34 seconds left in the game.
Despite facing a 20-17 deficit, Northwest went to work.
Martin found Shawn Bane on a pair of back-to-back passes, the second going for 47 yards, to set up the Bishop touchdown two plays later.
Bane finished with 7 receptions for 139 yards. Bishop added four receptions for 40 yards and a score.
Northwest opened the scoring on a Jacob Gassman 30-yard interception return for a touchdown with 7:44 remaining in the first quarter.
The Bearcats' lead expanded to 14-0 in the second quarter when Martin hit Jordan Grove for a 10-yard score.
