The Northwest Missouri State men's basketball season came to a close Saturday evening in a first round loss to Minnesota State 60-50 in the NCAA Central Region Tournament.

The Bearcats (27-4) held the Mavericks to a season-low point total in the game, but a slow start offensively led to their demise.

Northwest went the first seven and half minutes without a field goal, and trailed Minnesota State 15-5. From there, the 'Cats went on a 14-0 run to take a 19-15 lead, but MSU closed the half strong, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Carlos Anderson to jump in front 22-21. The Bearcats shot 24-percent from the field in the first half, and were 3-21 from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes.

The Mavericks led by as many as 13 in the second half. The Bearcats charged back multiple times, and got within three with 6:18 left in the game, but they never got any closer.

Chris-Ebou Ndow led Northwest with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Joey Witthus also scored 19 points.
