Northwest capped the regular season with a historic 73-55 win over Lincoln, and now takes some momentum into the MIAA Tournament.

The victory in Jefferson City on Saturday delivered an outright MIAA Championship for the Bearcats (24-3, 16-3 MIAA), and it also gave head coach Ben McCollum his 200th career win. McCollum is second in program history in wins. He's just 208 behind his former coach, Steve Tappmeyer.

The 'Cats led by 10 points at halftime over the Blue Tigers, but really stepped on the gas in the second half. Northwest's largest lead came in the final four minutes of the game -- a 21-point advantage. They shot 59-percent from the field and 63-percent beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes of the game.

Joey Witthus led the way with 22 points, matching his previous Bearcat career-high. He also added five assists and five rebounds.

Xavier Kurth finished with 14 points, and Justin Pitts had 13 points.

Northwest is the No. 1 seed in the MIAA Tournament, and will face the winner of Lincoln-Pittsburg State on Friday at 6pm at Municipal Auditorium.

KXCV-KRNW will host the Northwest Basketball Postseason Special at 4:30pm at The Quaff in Kansas City ahead of the MIAA Tournament game. The postseason special will lead into Bearcat Pregame at 5:40pm on KXCV-KRNW.
