Northwest Missouri State men's basketball put on a defensive clinic Thursday evening in a 76-43 win over Lincoln University.
The Bearcats (18-2, 10-2 MIAA) held the Blue Tigers to their lowest scoring output of the season, and it matched the fewest points allowed by Northwest all season.
Lincoln jumped out to a 5-0 lead one minute into the game, but Northwest responded with a 19-2 run to take a 19-7 lead. The Blue Tigers clawed back to get within five points with 7:07 to go in the half, but the 'Cats ended went on a 19-6 run into halftime fueled by eight points from Ryan Hawkins.
Hawkins, a redshirt freshman from Atlantic, IA, posted a career-high 13 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Justin Pitts led Northwest with 20 points and eight assists. Chris-Ebou Ndow added 18 points and eight rebounds.
