Northwest Missouri State overcame a slow start Wednesday night to knock off Quincy 64-55 in the final game before the holiday break.

The Bearcats (4-7) trailed the Hawks (3-8) 15-2 in the first quarter before hitting their stride. Northwest outscored Quincy 28-9 in the final 13:58 of the first half to take a 30-24 lead into the break.

The Hawks managed to tie the game at 43 apiece, but Mallory McAndrews put the 'Cats back in front with a three-pointer on the next possession. Quincy again answered to knot the game 46-46 on the next trip down the floor. This time it was Kendey Eaton nailing a clutch three to lift Northwest to a 49-46 lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Mallory McConkey led the Bearcats in scoring with a career-high 19 points. Kylie Coleman, in just her second game on the floor this season after recovering from a leg injury, scored 13 points off the bench in 16 minutes of action.

Northwest is now off until January 3 when they travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma for the third MIAA game of the season. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm with pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 starting at 5:10pm.
