Northwest Missouri State men's basketball dominated rival Missouri Western 87-64 Saturday evening in St. Joseph.
The Bearcats (17-0, 7-0 MIAA) started the game on an 11-0 run and led 19-4 seven minutes into the game.
The Griffons responded, and cut the deficit to 21-17 with 9:20 remaining in the half. From there, Northwest outscored Missouri Western 19-6 to take a 40-23 lead into halftime.
The 'Cats stayed on a roll through the second half extending the lead to as many as 30 points.
Northwest has now won 12 consecutive games over their MIAA rival.
The Bearcats shot 59-percent from the field as a team, and were led by Trevor Hudgins with 24 points.
Joey Witthus added 18 points and six assists. Ryan Hawkins finished with 15 points and Diego Bernard reached double-figues with 11 points.
Northwest continues its road swing with a game at Nebraska Kearney Thursday at 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7:10pm.
