The KXCV Bearcat Coaches Show looked ahead to another packed weekend of Northwest Missouri State sports, as well as recapping successful tournaments for the tennis teams.
Northwest football squares off with the early-season MIAA frontrunner, Pittsburg State, Saturday afternoon in Pittsburg, KS. The Bearcats own the all-time series lead 26-25 over the Gorillas. The matchup this time around features No. 17 Northwest with a 4-1 record and No. 8 Pittsburg State with a 5-0 record. John Coffey spoke with head coach Rich Wright and defensive end Mike Ehlke on the show about the big matchup.
Bearcat volleyball suffered its first MIAA loss of the season to No. 4 Nebraska Kearney last weekend. Now Northwest is turning its attention to No. 19 Central Oklahoma to get back on the winning track. Head coach Amy Woerth sat down with Coffey to discuss the weekend.
Mark Rosewell's Northwest Missouri State tennis teams turned heads at the ITA Central Regional in Oklahoma City, OK. Franco Oliva won the men's tournament to advance to the ITA Finals in Rome, Georgia. Freshman Julia Aliseda also performed well for the women's team reaching the tournament's quarterfinal round. Rosewell, Oliva and Aliseda were guests on the Coaches Show Thursday night to talk about the ITA's.
Bearcat golf posted a third place finish at the Augustana Invite on Sunday led by Morgan Thiele's two-day score of 155. Maddy Acers was one stroke back of Thiele and tied for 12th.
