Bearcat Athletics posted big performances across the board over the last week, from earning a home volleyball win over a perennial power to cutting down the nets after another MIAA men's basketball title.
Northwest Missouri State men's basketball earned the right to host the semifinal and championship rounds of the conference tournament if they can pick up a win on their home floor Wednesday over Emporia State. Athletic director Andy Peterson joined the show to discuss the chance to host, while head coach Ben McCollum highlighted big performances against Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State.
Northwest indoor track & field post solid finishes at the MIAA Championships with the women finishing fifth and the men's team taking third. Head coach Brandon Masters talked about big time individual performances as the team refocuses for the national championships March 12 and 13.
Bearcat volleyball took down Washburn in four sets in Maryville Wednesday, February 24. Northwest now has three wins in their last five meetings with the Ichabods and are now 3-0 this Spring. Head coach Amy Woerth spoke about the mental toughness of her team, and the upcoming rematch with Missouri Southern.
The tennis courts were active over the weekend as Northwest knocked off Oklahoma Baptist by identical scores of 6-1 in the men's and women's matches. Head coach Mark Rosewell's teams are a combined 3-0 on the season as he looks ahead to matches at home and in Springfield this week.
Bearcat baseball led off a series against Northeastern State with a 9-7 win before dropping the final two games of the series to the Riverhawks. Head coach Darin Loe now gets set for Northwest's first home games of the season this weekend against Emporia State.
