Northwest Missouri State dominated Central Oklahoma from start to finish en route to a 38-0 win in the home opener at Bearcat Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Northwest (3-0) and UCO were separated by just seven points until a heave just before halftime was hauled in by Alec Tatum swinging momentum to the Bearcats entering halftime.

Mike Hohensee rushed for a one-yard touchdown with 2:24 remaining in the second quarter, and the 'Cats got the ball back on Cahleel Smith's first career interception on the following Broncho drive. With just two seconds to play before halftime, Hohensee threw a pass 44 yards to the end zone hoping a teammate would come down with the prayer. The ball was deflected by a UCO defender and fell into the waiting arms of Alec Tatum to give the Bearcats another score before the break.

The Northwest lead was padded with a field goal by Cole Lammel on the opening drive of the third quarter to make it a 17-point game.

The Central Oklahoma offense was stonewalled at every turn throughout the afternoon. The Bearcats limited the Bronchos to 122 total yards, and UCO finished with -28 rush yards.

Jackson Barnes, Braden Dey, Sam Roberts and Zach Howard all recorded sacks as Northwest also racked up 10 tackles for loss on the afternoon.

The Bearcat rushing attack was prevalent throughout the day, too. Al McKeller found the end zone late in the third quarter to extend the lead to 24-0. The senior running back finished the day with 147 yards and a score on 21 carries.

Tatum recorded his second touchdown with 11:47 to play in the game. Hohensee fired a pass 28 yards downfield to an open Tatum adding to a career day for the Huntsville, Texas native. Tatum caught 11 passes for 205 yards, both high marks for his career, and two touchdowns.

Northwest capped the scoring on a dump off pass from Joseph Krause to Davonte Green that went 65 yards to the end zone.

The Bearcats will be on the road next Saturday, October 2, for a matchup with Missouri Western in St. Joseph. Kickoff is set for 6pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
