Northwest Missouri State football improved to 2-0 with a dominante 47-7 victory over Central Missouri in Warrensburg.

The Bearcats set the tone early, taking the opening kickoff then marching 83 yards in nine plays, capped off by a 33-yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Mike Hohensee making his first career start.

Hohensee threw for two more touchdowns in the first quarter, one to Kaden Davis and another to Al McKeller, then rushed for another score early in the second to anchor the Bearcats to a 27-0 lead.

The Northwest special teams played a role with a blocked punt from Jake Fisher. Peyton Plunkett scooped up the loose ball and rushed in from 22 yards out to put the 'Cats on top 33-0.

Hohensee fired touchdown passes to Davis and Imoni Donadelle in the third quarter to push the lead to 47-0.

The Mules scored their lone touchdown late in the third.

Northwest racked up 511 total yards in the win, and ran its record under head coach Rich Wright to 13-1 all-time in the month of September.

Hohensee finished the day with 260 yards on 14-18 passing, and 30 rush yards with 6 total touchdowns.
