The Northwest Missouri State University football team advanced to the second round of the 2021 NCAA Division II playoffs with a 50-21 triumph over Central Washington University at Bearcat Stadium.

Junior quarterback Braden Wright passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another in accounting for four of Northwest's seven total touchdowns. Wright came into the game in the first half after Mike Hohensee went out with an injury. Bearcat head football coach Rich Wright credits both quarterbacks for their preparation throughout the year.

Senior running back Al McKeller recorded his third straight 100-yard rushing game and eighth of the season with 130 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Imoni Donadelle caught a pair of scores and had 57 receiving yards. MIAA defensive player of the year Sam Roberts tallied 3.0 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 quarterback sacks.

Northwest will travel to Searcy, Ark., next Saturday to take on the Harding University Bisons at 1:00 p.m.
