The No. 2-ranked Northwest Missouri State University football team won its 11th straight home opener and extended the nation's longest home winning streak to 13 with a 33-19 victory over the Fort Hays State University Tigers at Bearcat Stadium.

Senior defensive lineman Zach Howard collected the MIAA's Defensive Player of the Week award, while sophomore kicker Cole Lammel captured the MIAA's Special Teams Player of the Week accolade.

Northwest will return to action Saturday at Lincoln. Kick is set for 2:00 p.m. at Dwight T. Reed Stadium in Jefferson City, Mo.
