After an early Lincoln touchdown, Northwest Missouri State used a high-flying passing attack to rattle off 30 straight points to take a commanding lead en route to a 58-20 win Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats (2-0) were led by Mike Hohensee's career day racking up 312 passing yards and three touchdowns on 21-24 passing. Keegan Sturdy and Trevon Alexander each went over the 100-yard receiving mark for the first time in their Northwest careers with 137 yards and 126 yards, respectively.
Kashan Griffin also caught two passes for 59 yards, and Tank Young had a receiving touchdown.
Robert Rawie also posted a career-high 95 rushing yards and a touchdown on eight carries.
The Northwest defense limited Lincoln to a total of 24 rushing yards, and also came away with two sacks and two interceptions. Trevon Peak had the first takeaway when he high-pointed a ball in the first half to give the 'Cats a short field. The second interception sealed the game. Shane Fredrickson stepped in front of a pass and returned it 38 yards for a score.
The Bearcats will be at home for Family Weekend on September 17 against Central Missouri. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 is 12:30pm, followed by the opening kick at 1:30pm.
