Northwest Missouri State withstood a late charge from Northern State to stay unbeaten on the season with a 81-78 win.
The Bearcats (3-0) led by 16 with 4:21 left in the game. The Wolves battled back to cut the deficit to just one point with 15 seconds remaining. Northwest didn't play passive, but instead attacked. Bennett Stirtz recorded a pair of layups sandwiched around a Northern State turnover. Daniel Abreu sank two free throws with eight seconds remaining to seal the victory.
Diego Bernard led Northwest with 21 points and five rebounds.
Abreu finished with 19 points. Stirtz had 17 off the bench for Northwest.
