Northwest Missouri State's dominant streak of wins over rival Missouri Western came to an end in a 76-70 loss in St. Joseph.
The Bearcats (11-4, 7-2 MIAA) had won 24 in a row against the Griffons until getting upended Saturday afternoon.
Missouri Western hit its first three three-point attempts of the game and jumped out to an early 16-5 lead. Northwest climbed back within two points in the final five minutes of the first half, but couldn't overtake the Griffons before halftime. Missouri Western pushed the advantage to 14 points in the second half and held on for the win.
Wes Dreamer finished with a game-high 27 points.
Northwest returns home Thursday to face Newman. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7pm.
