Northwest Missouri State used an uprecedented second half run to shut the door on Newman and earn a 76-47 win Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats (13-4, 9-2 MIAA) held the Jets scoreless for over 11 consecutive minutes while reeling off 23 unanswered points. A 44-34 lead ballooned to 67-34 thanks to stifling defense as Northwest won its fifth straight over Newman.
Northwest matched a season-high with 12 three-point makes, led by Mitch Mascari's 12 points on four of seven shooting from beyond the arc.
MIAA-leading scorer Wes Dreamer posted a game-high 25 points while also pulling in seven rebounds.
Isaiah Jackson finished with 10 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
Northwest is on the road Thursday for a matchup with Central Missouri. Game time is 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7pm.
