Northwest Missouri State closed out February with a stellar offensive performance in a 77-72 win over Central Oklahoma.

The Bearcats (21-6, 15-6 MIAA) shot 43.6-percent from the field and went 23-26 from the free throw line to outlast the Bronchos.

Trailing by three at the end of the first quarter, Northwest scored the first four points of the second on layups by Kelsey Fields and Caely Kesten, but then quickly surrendered a 5-0 run and the lead. The teams traded buckets as the half unfolded, but a bucket by Jayna Green as the buzzer sounded sent Northwest to the locker room with a two-point lead.

UCO battled back in front in the third quarter, but the Bearcats again used a late run and a shot before time expired to grab momentum. This time it was Fields hitting a shot in the lane to open a five-point advantage. The lead grew to as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats closed out the Bronchos.

Kesten finished with 23 points, including 10-10 at the free throw line.

Green put up 18 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth career double-double.

Molly Hartnett also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists.

Northwest finishes the regular season Saturday in Joplin against Missouri Southern. The game gets underway at 1:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5/KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
