The Northwest Missouri State Bearcat men's basketball team got the MIAA portion of their schedule off to a good start last night with a 78-74 win against Missouri Southern at Bearcat Arena.

Northwest led by as much as 13 points in the second half before holding off the Lions down the stretch.

Wes Dreamer led Northwest with 20 points and six rebounds. Bennett Stirtz added 17 points and five assists, and Spencer Schomers came off the bench with a career high 11 points.

The Bearcat men improve to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA.

Northwest will return to action Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against the Pittsburg State Gorillas.
