Northwest Missouri State opened the postseason with a wire-to-wire win over Missouri Western 80-52.
The Bearcats (25-4) began dismantling the Griffons with a 13-2 run midway through the first half to open up a 27-10 lead. Back-to-back layups in the final two minutes of the half gave Northwest a 41-27 advantage at the break.
Missouri Western was held to just 1-10 three-point shooting and got out-rebounded 33-19.
Northwest shot 55.2-percent from the floor and 9-16 on three-point attempts in the win.
Wes Dreamer put up 22 points and knocked down four of five three-point shots.
Daniel Abreu scored 20 points for the first time all season. He also pulled in seven rebounds.
Bennett Stirtz finished with 12 points.
Northwest will play in the MIAA Tournament semifinals Saturday at 6pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5/KRNW 88.9 begins at 5:30pm.
