Northwest Missouri State baseball and softball broke out the bats last weekend, Bearcat track & field reeled off record-setting performances, while the basketball teams completed their first of two swings through Oklahoma. All of that and more was covered on this week's Bearcat Coaches Show.

Northwest softball went 2-2 on a trip through Bentonville, AR, including a 5-5 performance at the plate by Alexis Brown. Brown was named MIAA Hitter of the Week. Head coach Naomi Tellez and Brown joined the show to highlight the success.

Bearcat baseball pounded out 53 runs while taking three of four in a road series with Christian Brothers. Graduate student Ashton Neuman drove in four runs in the weekend finale. Neuman and head coach Tony Jandron sat down with John Coffey to discuss the leap from the opening series to now.

It was a record-setting weekend at Hughes Fieldhouse as the Northwest indoor track & field squads lit up the Bearcat Invite. The men's distance medley relay posted the sixth fastest time in NCAA Division 2 history, while the women's DMR recorded the second fastest time in school history. Head coach Brandon Masters, along with a couple members from those DMR teams — Logan Arellano and Alyna Thibault, were guests on this week's program.

Northwest tennis opens the season this Friday in Kansas City against William Jewell. Head coach Mark Rosewell enters the year looking to collect his 30th MIAA title. He and junior Miru Nonaka looked ahead to the season opener.

Northwest women's basketball finished the road trip down south with a win over Rogers State. The Bearcats are 10th in the latest KPI MIAA standings. Assistant coach Daryle Tucker and graduate student Molly Hartnett discussed the work ahead of them with six regular season games remaining.

Northwest men's basketball is set for matchups with Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State as they looked to make a late-season run in the MIAA. Head coach Matt Keeley and sophomore Jack Ratigan spoke with John Coffey about the upcoming opportunity to play at home.
