The Northwest Missouri State University football team dropped to 0-2 following a 21-14 defeat against the University of Nebraska Kearney at Cope Stadium on Saturday.

UNK managed to keep Northwest scoreless in the second half and capitalized on several mistakes made by the Bearcats, marking only their fifth victory in 20 encounters with Northwest. This loss signifies the Bearcats' first 0-2 start since the 1995 season.

Chris Ruhnke threw for 311 yards, completing 25 of 38 passes, and connected for two touchdowns with Drew Atkins and Eric Richardson. However, he also had two interceptions in the loss. Atkins was the leading receiver with four catches for 73 yards, while Luke Mathews recorded a team-high five receptions. On defense, Carter Edwards, Parker Bowen, and Andrew Dumas each led the team with five tackles.
