Northwest Missouri State returned from the bye week and rolled to victory 44-26 against Northeastern State in a non-conference clash.
The Bearcats (5-4) led by eight early in the third quarter when the Riverhawks punted to Dominic Myers. The electric returner broke free and returned the kick 50 yards to provide Northwest with a spark. Myers finished the day with 119 yards on four punt returns. That's the third highest single-game punt return yardage in Bearcat history.
Northeastern State answered with a touchdown, but Northwest was ready to pull away. The Bearcats tacked two onto its lead with a safety late in the third quarter, and added touchdowns by Eric Richardson and Jadon Brady in the fourth to put the game away.
Chris Ruhnke threw for 185 yards and three touchdowns on 16-23 passing. Brady gained 55 rushing yards to go along with two touchdowns on the day.
The Bearcats play in St. Joseph next Saturday, November 9 at 2pm against Missouri Western.
