Northwest Missouri State dropped its season-opening matchup to Augustana 72-50 in the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic from St. Joseph.

The Bearcats (0-1) battled and were within one possession of the Vikings in the second half, but a scoring drought allowed Augustana to pull away.

Northwest turned the ball over 20 times, and Augie capitalized with 22 points off of Bearcat giveaways.

Luke Moustakas put up a team-high 15 points on 5-10 three-point shooting.

Emorie Knox chipped in nine points and four assists.

The Bearcats return to play Sunday at 2pm against Wayne State in the final day of the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic.
