Northwest Missouri State football reeled off its fourth straight win Saturday, taking down Washburn 51-34 in Topeka, KS.
The Bearcats (4-2, 4-1 MIAA) jumped out to a 20-0 lead thanks to one touchdown pass apiece from Henry Martin and Chris Ruhnke, and a pair of Noah Guastella field goals set up by Ichabod turnovers.
Washburn battled back with two touchdowns in the final two minutes of the first half to cut the Northwest lead to 20-14 at halftime.
The teams traded barbs in the 3rd quarter, keeping the Bearcat advantage at six entering the fourth quarter.
The 'Bods were shut out in the final 15 minutes while the Bearcats tacked on three more touchdowns and Guastella's third field goal of the day to put the game away.
Northwest rushed for 201 yards as a team, with 134 coming courtesy of Tank Young. Young also picked up two touchdowns.
Carter Edwards led the Northwest defensive attack with seven tackles and two interceptions.
The Bearcats are on the road again next Saturday, October 12, against the University of Central Oklahoma.
