Northwest Missouri State went back and forth with Missouri Western Saturday afternoon, but the Griffons pulled away in the final four minutes for a 71-58 victory.
The Bearcats (4-16, 2-9 MIAA) and Griffs were tied 33-33 at halftime. Northwest and Missouri Western traded the lead seven times in the first five minutes of the second half. The Bearcats stayed within one possession of the Griffons until the 4:18 mark. Western used a 14-4 run to close out the game.
Northwest made just three of 13 three-point attempts in the second half and made just four-of-nine from the free throw line in the final 20 minutes.
Marcus Glock paced the Bearcats with 14 points. He also knocked down four-of-six from behind the arc.
Luke Moustakas finished with 12 points, and Byron Alexander put up a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Northwest goes on the road Thursday to face Central Oklahoma at 7:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7pm.
