The Northwest Missouri State University football team dominated the Missouri Southern Lions with a commanding 59-0 victory on Saturday at Hughes Stadium.

With this win, Northwest improved its season record to 2-2 and moved to 2-1 in MIAA play, while Missouri Southern fell to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Quarterback Chris Ruhnke had an impressive performance, completing 26 of 33 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns, marking his second time surpassing 300 yards this season. Backup quarterback Henry Martin also contributed, going 2 of 3 for 70 yards and a touchdown, along with two rushing touchdowns from six and two yards.

Eric Richardson made a significant impact with three receptions for 85 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown catch that opened the scoring. Zach Atkins and Jamar Simpson each recorded their third and second career touchdown catches, respectively, while John Giagiari caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Ruhnke in the first quarter, marking his first of the season and fourth of his career. A total of eleven different Bearcats caught passes during the game.

On the ground, Jadon Brady led the rushing attack with 16 carries for 59 yards, including his first rushing touchdown of the season. His two-yard score in the first quarter was the fourth rushing touchdown of his career.

Next Saturday, Northwest will host the undefeated Emporia State Hornets for Family Weekend, with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium and the pregame show on KXCV-KRNW at 12:30 p.m.
