Northwest Missouri State was upended by Newman inside Bearcat Arena 71-59 Thursday night.
The Bearcats (6-21, 4-14 MIAA) were in a one-possession battle with the Jets late in the first half, but Newman made a surge and went into the break on a 15-4 run to pull away.
Northwest made a push in the second half to cut the deficit to five points, but Newman wouldn't allow them any closer.
The win is the first for the Jets over the Bearcats since they joined the MIAA.
Ja'Vion Byers paced Northwest with 17 points.
Marcus Glock added 14 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Luke Moustakas put up 10 points.
Northwest is back home for the final game of the regular season on Saturday at 3:30pm against Emporia State. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 3pm.
