Northwest Missouri State traded barbs with No. 7 Fort Hays State through the first quarter, but the game slipped away as the half wore on en route to a 84-60 Tigers victory.
The Bearcats (9-9, 2-6 MIAA) exchanged the lead with the Tigers five times in the first ten minutes, and trailed just 21-19 at the end of the frame. Fort Hays took control in the second quarter outscoring Northwest 26-11. The Bearcats' shooting percentage dipped from 50% (7-14) in the opening period to 23% (3-13) in the second.
Caely Kesten continued her stellar senior season with 17 points while shooting 5-7 from three-point range. She is up to 167 career three-pointers, which moves the Denver, CO native to fourth in program history.
Molly Hartnett finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Over her last three games combined, she has 14 assists to just two turnovers.
Northwest returns home for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday, January 22 against Washburn. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
