Northwest Missouri State locked down Missouri Southern in the fourth quarter en route to a 62-54 victory Thursday night.
The Bearcats (12-12, 5-9 MIAA) held the Lions to nine points on 3-14 shooting in the final 10 minutes. Northwest entered the final quarter trailing by one after hitting just 3-13 in the third and going 0-6 from three-point range. It was their aggressiveness that kept them afloat, making six of seven free throws in the third quarter.
Three players scored in double figures, led by Molly Hartnett's 24 points. The graduate student tacked on nine rebounds and five assists.
Caely Kesten ended the night with 13 points, five rebounds and a season-high four assists. Kelsey Fields put up 11 points and eight rebounds.
Northwest caps the weekend Saturday at 1:30pm against Pittsburg State at home. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
