Northwest 64, Wayne State 75

Northwest Missouri State came up short against Wayne State Sunday afternoon in a 75-64 loss in the final game of the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic.

The Bearcats (0-2) came back from a nine-point deficit in the first half, and used a 6-0 run early in the second to push in front 43-39. The Wildcats responded quickly and jumped back on top 44-43 less than a minute later. Northwest jumped back in front 46-44 on a three from Luke Moustakas with 14:28 left. The teams traded buckets and were knotted 51-51 at the 10:13 mark. The Wildcats outscored the Bearcats 24-13 the rest of the way.

Emorie Knox paced Northwest with 16 points and five assists.

Spencer Schomers finished with 13 points.

The Bearcats return to action Thursday against Chadron State at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
