Northwest Missouri State overcame two double-digit deficits Tuesday night, but it wasn't enough as Missouri Western triumphed 70-66.
The Bearcats (1-6, 0-1 MIAA) and Griffons were knotted 20-20 when Western rattled off 10-straight points to jump in front.
Northwest began to bounce back late in the first half. The 'Cats outscored the Griffs 12-2 from the final three minutes before halftime through the first three minutes of the second half to tie it 37-37. Western charged ahead again and held an 11-point lead with 9:23 to play.
The Bearcats climbed back into it and cut the deficit to one on a Jack Ratigan layup in the final minute of the game. Missouri Western answered with a late three-pointer to seal the win.
Ratigan put up a career-high 18 points.
Marcus Glock chipped in with 15 points off the bench.
The Bearcats go on the road to face Emporia State on Thursday. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 7pm.
