Northwest Missouri State controlled overtime and took down Newman 82-76 in the penultimate game of the regular season.

The Bearcats (14-14, 7-11 MIAA) jumped in front of the Jets in the extra period thanks to a couple quick buckets from Molly Hartnett. Northwest outscored Newman 14-8 in overtime, with Hartnett accounting for 10 of them.

The win moves Northwest to 7-0 all-time against Newman, and 2-0 and in overtime games this season.

The game was knotted 52-52 entering the fourth quarter. With 3:38 remaining, the Bearcats held a four-point lead but were held scoreless through the end of regulation. The Jets tied it with 52 seconds to play to force overtime.

Hartnett posted a career-high 31 points in the win. She was efficient at the free throw line hitting 14 of 15 attempts.

Kelsey Fields recorded her 15th career double-double with 11 points and 21 rebounds. It marks the first game for a Bearcat with 20 or more rebounds since Meghan Brue in 2008.

Caely Kesten added 19 points.

Northwest caps the regular season at home Saturday against Emporia State. Game time is 1:30pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
