Northwest Missouri State athletics put together big performances on the field, the pitch, the race course and the court to open the month of October. This week's Bearcat Coaches Show highlights all of them.
Bearcat football held off a pesky Washburn Ichabod team in Topeka, KS. Now, they get set for a road trip to Edmond, OK to face Central Oklahoma. Junior wide receiver Luke Mathews joins the show to talk about the MIAA battles.
Northwest cross country turned heads at the Griffon Invite in St. Joseph. The men's team, led by senior Grant Bradley with a first place finish, won the meet. The Bearcat women, spearheaded by senior Alyna Thibault finishing sixth individually, earned third place. Their next meet is October 26 on the same course during the MIAA Championships. Bradley, Thibault and graduate assistant Roland Prenzler discussed the opportunities still ahead on this week's program.
Bearcat volleyball split a pair of matches during the toughest road trip of the season against Fort Hays State and Nebraska Kearney, now they return home for a trio of matches including rival Missouri Western, No. 11 Central Oklahoma and conference newcomer Arkansas Fort Smith. Head coach Amy Woerth and sophomore setter Ella Caffery highlight the matchups ahead.
Northwest soccer didn't allow a goal across two matches at Central Oklahoma and Newman, and now the Bearcats return home for a big test against No. 5 Central Missouri and Rogers State. Head coach Marc Gordon, junior Darrian Gordon, and junior Moira Franck sit down with John Coffey to talk about the upcoming weekend.
Bearcat men's tennis wrapped up the fall season in late November with the ITA Regional. Head coach Mark Rosewell and senior Vini Rodrigues discussed the first four matches of the school year, and looked ahead to the upcoming spring season.
