Thursday was a celebration around Lamkin Activity Center.
Northwest Missouri State University welcomed back one of its own as John McMenamin stood at the podium and delivered his plan of attack as the Bearcat football program's 21st head coach.
McMenamin has won at every stop along the way in his career, from Nebraska Omaha to Central Missouri, and Wayne State to Tulane. He also worked under successful coaches like Pat Burns, Jim Svoboda and Willie Fritz.
McMenamin learned from all of those men, but he will have his own identity as a head coach.
"I'll bring the passion and consistency for these kids," the Elkhorn, NE native said. "It's being consistent, it's being organized and being committed. If (the players) can say (the coaches) are dedicated and committed, that's about as good of a compliment as you can get."
McMenamin played at Northwest from 1998 to 2002.
